Preparing the ground before laying or seeding your lawn is a very important first step to creating a successful lawn and cannot be emphasised enough.
Lawn Specialists Auckland will do all the hard work for you. The area needs to be rid of weeds, stones, debris and any unwanted existing grass.
The soil dug over and broken up to allow good penetration of grass roots. The soil then raked and levelled to remove mounds and hollows and to create a smooth, firm surface for sewing seed or laying lawn.
Depending on the quality of the soil a layer of topsoil may be needed to provide a more nutrient rich medium for your grass to thrive. |
Rolled lawn or grass seed?
The choice is yours.
Whichever option you choose, preparing the site costs the same.

Rolled lawn, as the name implies, comes in rectangular rolled lengths. Cut from a 'turf farm' and sold fresh it is ready to be laid on prepared soil for an instant lawn.
The advantage of rolled lawn is that it's fast. Go from bare dirt to fancy lawn in a day. It can be planted anytime of year (weather permitting).
Lawn Specialists - Auckland will measure, calculate and provide the correct number of rolls you need.

Grass seed is a lower cost option. It also provides more choice in grass variety. Most lawn seed is either a mixture (made up of several grass species) or a blend (several varieties of one species).
The reason for this is to ensure that the grass is as adaptable to your particular conditions as possible. Factors to be considered will include irrigation or rainfall the site receives, shade aspects, wear (whether ornamental or play area), and soil type (sand, loam, or clay).
Lawn Specialists - Auckland will advise you on the best variety of lawn seed to suit your site.
